A quiet two-bedroom farmhouse for longer stays near Carrollton, MO

270 Winchester Lane is a furnished two-bedroom farmhouse near Bogard, about 15 minutes from Carrollton, and it works well as a long-term rental for a month or more. You get a full kitchen, a full-size washer and dryer, and Wi-Fi suitable for remote work with an ethernet connection. We count a long stay as 28 nights or more. One guest stayed 13 weeks on a travel-nurse assignment.

No neighbors are in sight, and the nearest amenities are 10 or more miles away.

What’s included in a long-term rental stay

• Full kitchen: stove, oven, refrigerator, freezer, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, cooking basics, dishes and silverware.
• Laundry: a full-size washer and dryer. You wash your own linens and towels.
• Internet: Wi-Fi suitable for remote work, plus an ethernet connection.
• Trash: we pick it up weekly during longer stays.
• Sleeping: the house sleeps up to 6. Bedroom 1 has a queen bed, and Bedroom 2 has a bunk bed with a sleeper sofa as the bottom bunk. Each bedroom also has a single rollout bed.
• Comfort: bed linens, extra pillows and blankets, shampoo and body soap, a hair dryer, central heating and air, and Roku smart TVs in the living room and both bedrooms.
• Outdoors: a deck, a fire pit and a propane gas grill.

Working from the farmhouse

There’s no dedicated desk, but the kitchen island or the dining table makes a good place to set up your laptop. Plug into the ethernet connection or use the Wi-Fi.

Location, quiet and getting around

• Carrollton: about 15 minutes, for groceries, gas and essentials.
• Chillicothe: about 30 minutes, with a Walmart for bigger supply runs.
• Kansas City and the airport (MCI): about 1.5 hours.

Both towns have hospitals: Carroll County Memorial Hospital in Carrollton and Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe. The times above are to the towns.

The gravel roads are fine year-round for any car. There’s gravel parking with room for work vehicles, and a shed for vehicles in bad weather. Trailers stay outside on the gravel. Packages and mail can be delivered to the farmhouse.

For stays of 28 nights or more: “Guests must cancel at least 30 days before check-in to receive a full refund.”

• Check-in is at 4 PM and check-out is at noon, with self check-in by keypad.
• Maximum 6 guests.
• No pets, no events, and no smoking indoors (outside only).
• Shoes come off at the door.

Yes. Long-term stays are welcome, and we count 28 nights or more as a long stay.

Is the Wi-Fi good enough for remote work?

It’s suitable for remote work, and there’s an ethernet connection too. A past guest’s husband worked remotely during their 13-week stay.

What’s the cancellation policy for long stays?

For stays of 28 nights or more, guests must cancel at least 30 days before check-in to receive a full refund.
